North Beach Provincial Park is situated along the sandy shores of Lake Ontario in Prince Edward County. It is a day-use park so there is no overnight camping. It is only open during the summer and its main draw is its beautiful sandy beach. North Beach also offers picnic facilities and has change rooms and washrooms.
Entrance into the park is gated closed during the off-season. We parked along the side of the road since it wasn’t very busy. We then walked along the main road into the park to check out the beach and amenities.
Despite the fact that it was late fall, there were still some leaves on the trees. It was windy and the water wavy, but the sun poking out from between the clouds. The beach was nice and quiet and we were the only ones here. We walked along the sandy shore and just admired the views.
North Beach actually has two beaches. One along Lake Ontario that spans across 1,200 metres of the sandy shoreline and another smaller beach on North Bay. We walked through the sand dunes to check out the more sheltered beach along North Bay.
We then walked back towards the main gate with the wind in our faces.
We hopped back in the car and drove to the cabin to spend the rest of the weekend. It’s been awhile since we’ve explored a new park (or visited the cabin) and it was nice to be back outdoors.

It was a beautiful sandy beach and it was nice to have it all to ourselves. That way we didn’t feel nearly as silly taking weird shadow pictures of ourselves. I would definitely return in the summer to go for a swim. Thanks for reading. Linda
I like beaches that don’t make it obvious that they are beaches. They’re more peaceful, I think
Agreed, it definitely makes for more laid back experience. Hopefully that means it’s not nearly as crowded in the summer either. I guess I’ll just have to return to check it out!

It was fun to walk along the sandy shores of North Beach late in the fall and see a quieter side of the park. I can see why you moved closer to the beach. It’s very peaceful.
What beautiful beaches!
There’s a few beautiful sandy beaches in this area. North Beach is the lesser known one, but I’m glad we finally checked it out, even if it was late in the fall. It was a bit too chilly to go swimming, but there’s always next summer!

For sure!! It’s too bad I didn’t have a towel with me otherwise I would have totally dipped my feet in the water.

Thanks for your kind words. I know what you mean about how the Great Lakes can easily be mistaken for the ocean. We’re lucky to have access to four of the five Great Lakes in Ontario.

It goes to show that beach can be enjoyable regardless of the season. In some ways it’s fun to explore it in the off-season when there’s not many people around. I would love to come back in the summer to go for a swim though.
Mm, love those stark trees on the beach. Going for the more sheltered stretch of sands is always the right choice, I feel. Sladja and I also like to do a shadow shot once in a while.
It’s nice to have a few trees by the sandy shoreline. That’s typically where we’d hang out on a hot summer’s day while at the beach. Thankfully there was no one else around to see us taking our funny shadow pictures.
The soft sand looks so nice especially in the autumn light. How creative to photo your shadows!
It’s too bad it was too chilly outside otherwise I would have loved to take my shoes off and feel the sand in between my toes. Either way, we still enjoyed our walk along the sandy shore and even had some fun taking shadow pictures of ourselves.

North Beach looks like a beautiful spot to go swimming and hopefully isn’t nearly as crowded as Sandbanks or Presqu’ile. We’ll just have to return in the summer to find out!! I was surprised to find shells on the beach, but they looked really pretty. I am so over this cold weather and am looking forward to the summer!
Beautiful place. Looks similar in many ways to the beaches of Lake Michigan along the Indiana Dunes National Park. 😊
It’s amazing how much the sandy beaches along the Great Lakes can resemble the ocean. I haven’t spent too much time on Lake Michigan, but the Indiana Dunes National Park sounds like a park I’d enjoy!

That beautiful sandy beach is so large, I can’t imagine it would ever get crowded, but you certainly beat the crowd on this visit.
That’s always the benefit of visiting during the offseason is that you don’t have to elbow your way through the crowds It was lovely to have the place all to ourselves. I would love to return when the weather is nicer as this looks like a fabulous beach to go swimming.

The beautiful thing about the beach is that it’s great to visit in every season. I love walking along the sandy shore and watching the waves. The nice thing about visiting in the late fall was that we had the place all to ourselves.
That’s the exact reason whyI enjoy fall and winter beaches here! The massive crowds are gone.
For sure, it’s always nice to avoid the crowds. The neat thing about visiting in the winter is seeing all the interesting ice formations.
That last photo looks like you could be in Costa Rica somewhere…well except for the temperatures and frigid water haha
It’s amazing how huge the Great Lakes are and that they are often confused for the ocean. We’re lucky that we have access to four of them from Ontario. They have some of the best beaches and areas for swimming in the province.
We should get to see this one!

It was nice to have the beach all to ourselves so we didn’t have to worry about people watching us take silly pictures of our shadows! I would love to come back in the summer to go for a swim here as the beach is beautiful. I just hope it’s not crowded.
Yeah that must’ve been so nice having the beach to yourselves. I felt that way back in high school when I went with my friend to Atlantic City Beach. The boardwalk barely had anyone on it and the ocean seemed so welcoming. That time had also been the first time I had experienced the ocean. It also was December and far too cold to swim hah. 🙂 But I was mesmerized regardless. It was so beautiful and freeing walking the boardwalks without the crowds. I am not a fan of huge crowds so I understand your will to return in the summer without the crowds. 🙂 I’m grateful you got that shadow pic ! I love it 💕 I love playful photos like that . They’re a rarity and they can make anyone smile
It’s such a lovely feeling to have the place all to yourself and not have to worry about the crowds, even if it’s for a moment. That’s one of the reasons why I love to travel in the offseason and experience a quieter side of things. Glad to hear that I’m not the only one who takes silly pictures sometimes! It gave us a good laugh and I’m glad a few of the pictures turned out.
Yes ! It’s nice going off season to enjoy places with peace and quiet. It helps when taking pictures too because then you’re not feeling rushed 😃
Yes! Or you don’t have to wait for people to get out of your frame. It’s just so much more of a relaxing experience without the crowds.
